Life In Colour was very impressive when he won his Maiden, despite being inexperienced and green – and he’s improving fast with racing, well proven in his easy disposal of a field of older runners in a handicap over 1400m at Turffontein on Saturday, 11 July.
Mickaëlle Michel noted after his first win that Life In Colour was a very promising sort and that he will come on with racing, also saying that she’ll get to know him better and that will also be to his benefit.
They looked like a good partnership indeed, dictating the pace and then quickening swiftly away in the run for home. Life In Colour won by 2.60-lengths from the well-backed favourite, Winston’s Wonder.
Mickaëlle said: “I really love this horse. He didn’t feel like himself last time, but today he was back. He showed me a very good turn of foot.”
Francois Naude, who saddled Life In Colour, commented: “He has a nice cruising speed for 1400m up. Good luck to all the owners, we have some of them here today.”
Part-owner Vishal Mahabeer said: “What a lovely horse, and he will improve more. Thanks to the Spies Racing team.”
