Two Grade 1 runners at HWB Scottsville!
Spies Racing raids HWB Scottsville

FROM SPIES RACING ON FACEBOOK:
All eyes turn to Scottsville this Saturday as two of the country’s premier juvenile events — the Grade 1 Allan Robertson Championship and the Grade 1 Gold Medallion — take centre stage. Spies Racing fields two compelling contenders in these storied sprints: Elegantrix, the polished filly with a touch of class, and African Pride, a colossal maiden out to defy convention.
Elegantrix lines up in the Allan Robertson with both form and flair on her side. A dominant winner last time out in the Grade 3 Godolphin Barb — where she toppled male rivals with authority — she’s shown precocity and grit in equal measure. This daughter of Vercingetorix is poised for her sternest test yet, but the stable confidence is palpable. She’s is thriving at home, and brings a proven turn of foot that could be lethal over the Scottsville straight six.
In the Gold Medallion, Spies Racing throws a curveball — and a literal heavyweight — into the fray with African Pride. Entering as a maiden is a rarity at this level, but connections aren’t shy about rolling the dice. At a staggering 615 kilograms, African Pride is believed to be one of the biggest thoroughbreds in South African racing today. And though he’s yet to shed his maiden tag, the gelding has been quietly progressing, and his work at home has turned heads. His imposing frame and long stride could prove a surprise weapon if he gets into rhythm early.
It’s an ambitious double-handed assault on the highest juvenile honours, but Spies Racing knows how to campaign quality horses on the big stage — and both runners could have a say when the whips start crackin
